Protecting & Understanding Your Biggest Investment – Your Condominium Unit

Devon Cassidy is an Associate lawyer in the Halifax office of Cox & Palmer. Her practice focus on condominium law and real estate, as well as estates and corporation/commercial matters and is a part-time member of the Dalhousie Law School faculty. Active in the condominium law community, Devon is the President of the Nova Scotia Chapter of the Canadian Condominium Institute and a Director at Large on the National Executive of the Canadian Condominium Institute
The Canadian Condominium Institute is a national, independent, non-profit organization with chapters from coast to coast. This creates an invaluable resource for all condominium stakeholders. Devon will discuss resources available at a National level and throughout the other Atlantic Chapters to help all condominium stakeholder increase their knowledge about the world of condominiums.
Owning real property is one of the largest investments a person will make. With a condominium, in addition to buying real property, you are becoming a member of a corporation. Devon will discuss considerations when buying and owning a condominium, touching on the role of the condominium corporation in the ownership of your condo unit and how to be an engaged owner.
